ResoSummit 2008 update: We recently sent out a "first call" registration announcement for ResoSummit (Nov.13-16, 2008). As promised, we gave the earliest registration opportunity to my email list (including the ResoSummit email list). Amazingly, we reached our registration cap in less than 24 hours. Thanks to everybody who responded; if you submitted a registration survey before 1/28, you should have received either a confirmation email or a wait list notice. For more information on ResoSummit, or to sign up for the waiting list, go to www.resosummit.com.
From my most recent newsletter:
I wanted to take a moment to share a few highlights from my recent work: some cool sessions with Merle Haggard; a fun holiday appearance last week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show with Toby Keith; and an awesome first-ever ResoSummit.

The Merle Report, Part II
In early November, I spent another 4 days at Merle's place in Redding, CA. What a blast! Reggie Young was also there this time (Reggie is an amazing player: he played on Merle's recordings of "That's the Way Love Goes", "I Think I'll Just Sit Here and Drink," and many more; and he's toured with the Beatles and recorded with Elvis. Merle is in great voice and writing some amazing stuff right now; it was an honor for me to be there.

. . .and a Fun Ellen Moment
I got a last minute call to do the Ellen DeGeneres Show with Toby Keith on Dec. 5th (for the show that aired on Dec. 6th). Lots of fun - we played "Please Come Home for Christmas" from Toby's new Christmas double CD (available in my Store). This is a great cd, especially if you always wanted to hear what dobro sounds like on many of your favorite Christmas classics!

ResoSummit: The First-Ever!
After spending a year putting it all together, it was very exciting to watch 80 participants converge in Nashville for the first-ever ResoSummit. Joining me on the faculty were Mike Auldridge, Cindy Cashdollar, Phil Leadbetter, Andy Hall, Michael Witcher, Randy Kohrs, and special guest Jerry Douglas. We had a four-night reso-invasion of the Station Inn, with performances by Three Ring Circle, The Infamous Stringdusters, Mike Auldridge with The Claire Lynch Band, and Missy Raines & The New Hip. Mix in luthiers extraordinaire Tim Scheerhorn and Paul Beard, and it made for an awesome event. For more information, surf to www.resosummit.com.
